This is an old revision of the document!

Special Forces in Freedom of Ur.

Their size. Elite units are a lot smaller numberswise than other battlefield units. Ranging from 1 (dragons, undead colossi) to 12 members (the Gnomish Space Marines, Freefolk Warbands), with Adventurer Fellowships being in the 4-6 range. They can wipe the floor with units much larger than themselves, because they are high level characters in a D&D like world.

3 flavours. Mundane units (groups of high level D&D style rogues and warriors). Giant units (massive monsters) and Magic units (complete high Level D&D style warparties )

Mundane Units: Numbers: 2

2 Free Folk Elite Warbands (The Hooligans & The Punks). Each belons to 1 of the 2 rival clans of Free Folk living on the hills outside Ur. Fight: as a heavy infantery unit Move: as skirmishers Number of Steps: 1 Specials: stacking limit does not apply to them.

Giant Units: Numbers: 0 in turn 1

Three Headed Dragons and the Undead Colossi. 0 at the start of the game, can be summoned during the game. Fight: As maximum sized stack of heavy infantery units. Move: Colossi can move to anywhere on the valley map in 1 day/gameturn. Dragons can fly to anywhere on the valley map in 1 combat phase. Number of Steps: 2 Specials: Count as a siege unit and as an artillery unit. A successful draconic artillery attack automatically lights its target on fire. Any Giant unit cannot be stacked with any other unit including other special forces units (they are to volatile, uncaring and dangerous)

Magic supported Units: Numbers: 4

1 unit consisting of the Prince of Darkness and his entourage and their pet dragons. 1 unit of Gnomish Spacemarines. 2 Adventurer Fellowships of Urr, The Fabulous Faby and his Posse & The Fellowship of the Displacer Beast. Fight: As maximum sized stack of heavy infantery units. Move: Can move to anywhere on the valley map in 1 combat phase. Number of Steps: 1 Specials: stacking limit does not apply to them, count as a siege unit and as an artillery unit.

Why there are no Player Character battle field counters. Most PCs in Freedom of Ur are essentially non-combatants. They are politicians, or laboratory wizards, not superheroes. The ones that are superheroes are all part of an elite unit. If their unit enters the field, they are where their unit is. If their unit is destroyed they die and the player receives a non-combatant character as their new PC next turn.

Specifically.

The Prince of Darkness part of:the Prince of Darkness and his entourage and their pet dragons will be replaced by if he dies: The PoD's favorite catamite

The Chief of the Hooligan clan part of: The Hooligans Warband will be replaced by if he dies: His Mother in Law; the daughter of that woman is just one of his many baby mamas, but everybody is to scared of that hag to tell her that.

The Chief of the Punk clan part of: The Punks Warband will be replaced by if he dies: the Chief's widower until a tournament can be held to find a replacement.

Captain Regent Fabian of the Free city of Ur part of: The Fabulous Faby and his Posse will be replaced by if he dies:Another member of the Grand Council of Urr
