Urr
Urr
This is an old revision of the document!
Basicaly we want three scores to be maintained by all sides namely, food, money and manna. For food we have determined that the basic unit for food will be the amount of rations eaten in 1 week by 1000 people (in Urr). A rough estimate of the cost of such a unit (on a free market) would be about 100 gold pieces. Since Urr contains about 7000 people, it would require 7 units of food per week. At the start of the game, only 15 units of food will be in the city. We can represent food units by colored tokens (various are still available from earlier games). The City's Trade Master controls these supplies. It will also be his task to acquire more before the siege really starts (turn 1 and 2 or maybe later through the tunnel between the Metal mountains and Urr.
We will also use yellow tokens to represent units of 100 gold pieces (small ones for 100 gp, larger ones for 500 gp). We reckoned that a single mercenary would offer his services at 2gp per week. Thus, one unit of 100 mercenaries would cost 2 gold units (200gp) per week. Since we expect the Dark Prince needing 4 weeks to muster and move his troops (He must decide in the first turn for his troops on the right mix of gear and mercenaries) and another 4 weeks to siege and breach the outer wall, he would need at least 16 gold units per mercenary unit. For his non mercenary troops he does not have to pay for their loyalty, but he must provide enough food/money to feed them.
Suggestion: Important distinction. Food tokens are removed from the game at a steady pace. Gold tokens stay on the board tied to the unit they are payed to and revert to the previous owner if the current one dies. This makes treachery a very good tool for The Dark Prince.
