The City Grand Council elects from its members the city executive council, simply called the City Council consisting of the following members:

• The Captain Regent of the City
• The Captain Regent of the Land
• The Chief Judge
• The Master of Trade
• The Master Mason: by tradition this is usually a Red Beard living in the Read Beards' quarter
• The Master of Public Works: usually this is a Free Folk living in the Free Folk' quarter
• The First Speaker: somehow he is always elected into the City Council.
