== The Elder Race: Elves == Elves are an ancient humanoid species whose culture and learning predates that of humanity by many millenia. Elves are immortal creatures: they live forever barring accidents or death in battle. This gives them a unique view on the world and the species that inhabit it. ** Attitude to Humans ** To an elf, a human is a rather dimwitted, dangerous and short-lived animal. Humans have been found to be very loyal and for some reason find elves attractive and awe- inspiring. Elves therefore tolerate humans in much the same way as humans tolerate pet dogs and cats. The elves have other plans for humans (see later). **The humans of Urr.** Urr is an unimportant human citystate in a strategically somewhat important spot. So ofcourse they are going to get stomped by the Dark Lord in this generations purge of humanity. The citizens of Urr seem to be closer to the elven ideal for the human race than for example the folks over at Yendor. In the grand scheme it may be helpful to save either the whole of Urr, or a remnant of it's population and culture. The considerable magic powers of the observers can be used to accomplish this goal if deemed worthwhile. There is even a modest force of elven archers available if needed. It better not be needed! Elf lives are very precious! Urr is run by 2 Captain Regents and a Grand Council. There are very regular elections for all political posts in Urr. It is not clear if they are real, or some sort of charade to keep the moocher class happy. Urr has a Redbeard quarter and a Free Folk quarter, where the most pathetic punks of both races live. ** Attitude to Dwarves ** Dwarves are long lived (although by no means immortal) and are therefore quite a different proposition to the somewhat muddle-headed humans. As far as the Elfs are concerned the Dwarfs are essentially the French. They are hairy, smelly, cowardly, oversexed pervs that eat weird food. Elves and dwarves generally do not actively hate each other, but approach each other on a basis of mutual distrust. In general dwarves and elves live and let live. **Dwarfs around Urr.** There are 3 dwarfcaves in the region. The Cave of the Longbeards. These are the sad ossified remnants of the only semi-cool dwarf culture ever. Their ancestors did some interesting (if derivative of elfen craftmanship) stuff. Now they kling to those secrets as easy sources of income and as a deterrent to people who might hurt them. They are ruled by a High King who has a High Council to advise him. The vulcano of the Gnomes. These are the most effeminate dwarfs. They were banished to this unsafe hellhole by the more butch sub-culture of the Longbeards. The gnome goddess empress(weird inappropriate title) is supposed to be the concubine of the Longbeard High King. But apparently one of the 2 is incapable of satisfying the other so their relationship is strained. The Gnomes claim they have once again taken up the mantle of innovators, but nothing they make ever works. The Cave of the Redbeards. They are a bunch of communist race pimps. They scratch out a very modest living by producing uncool metal ware. Cheap pots and pans, cutlery, horseshoes and shovels. They supplement this meagre income by race hustling. Bemoaning to the Grand Council of Urr and the High Council of the Longbeards their own incompetence and misery and being bought of with handouts. ** Orcs (or the Free Folk as they call themselves) ** Orcs are, in fact, just another distant tribe of humans. Their different skin colouring and slightly different facial patterns has made it possible to depict them in song and fable as an evil race of monsters (see below why this should be). **The local Freeloaders, umm... Free Folk.** Just like the Redbeards except far worse. Remember, where the dwarf lusts after the innocent elf maiden for his deviant sexual purposes, the O-word lusts after her nubile flesh for feasting. Anyways wild Free Folk live on the hills the Redbeards live under. Where the Free Folk in the service of the Prince of Darkness have a certain noble savage quality to them, the ones around and inside Urr have been spoiled by welfare and socialism ** The Grand Design ** The High Council of the Elder Race decreed some 5,000 years ago that the then primitive human populations of the world would merit further attention from elf-kind. The Council made a number of important rulings which //all elves have agreed to obey.// These were: - That humans should be developed in their potential to better equip them to (in time) become a high quality slave race for the Elder Race. (Note: This should come about in 1,000 years from the present). - To bring this about, the humans would be tested and carefully bred over a long period. The weeding out of weaklings would be achieved by causing many wars. (Incidentally, this breeding program has worked well due to the high reproductive rate of humans). - Elves encouraged the separation of various human tribal groupings by building on insignificant physical differences (hence the attidude to 'orcs') thus creating 'natural' enemies with whom peace could never be made. - Constant warfare would keep the human race from becoming too numerous to control. This is why every century or so there is an apocalyptic 'war against the forces of Darkness'. - Elves were forbidden to hunt humans for pleasure any more (up until this time human hunting was the second most popular elvish pastime), or to capture them for medical experiments. In order to foster the difference, hunting orcs is still permitted. Elves have no real strong feelings about 'orcs' (any more than they have about 'men') it is just that when men are about, elves have to put on an appropriate show of hating the evil 'orcs' as the embodyment of all that is 'evil'. ** Magic and technology ** To be described (different from Jim's Elves) Note: a specific spell for canoes exists namely the THDD (Thaumaturgic Hydrodynamic Drive spell) ** Demons and Devils ** This world has been visited and on occasion influenced by beings from parallel dimensions. For propaganda reasons these creatures have been called Demons and/or devils and dubbed as 'evil' and their home dimensions labelled the 'nether regions' or the ‘Dark Dimension’ etc. Much is known (by elves) about the exact nature of the dimension boundaries, and a specialist group of elves (The Reality Engineers) monitor and research such boundaries. The exact motivations of extra-dimensional beings are often uncertain, but in any case they are not welcome in our world and must not be allowed to interfere with our plans in any way. Most elves have no dealings with this aspect of the world. __The Elven team. 2+ members__\\ We are here as neutral observers. Small genocidal wars between humans usually further our long term plans for humanity, but not always. So we are checking with the following objectives. * To evaluate if Urr is worth saving (maybe) and if it is worth using elven troops to do so (highly unlikely). * To evaluate the evil empire and see if they have become so monstrously evil that they are now a threat to the long term plans of the elfs (distinctly possible). If this is the case they must be destroyed eventually, possibly starting the process by defeating them right here at Urr. **The following bit is of course very secret**\\ If the Elfs figure out the secret of the Illuminati, they have a new dilemma. Is this a reason to destroy both Urr and the Gnomes (probably yes) and is it worth using elven troops to do so (probably yes as well)? == For discussion == * If Jim comes, he is automatic casted as the 'high elf'. * **Agree**, I'd extend the same courtesy to all members of Jim's inner circle that show up. * A trap is set for the high elf by the humans and the gnomes. This is potentialy killing. (If it is, Jim comes back as the heir of the high elf. * **Disagree**, the Illuminati are not ready yet to start a war with the elves. They will be trying to keep the elves in the dark, both on their knowledge of the breeding program and the fact they have developed magics beyond the abilities of the elves.
